What is stick drift?
Stick drift is when a joystick reports movement while you're not touching it, so your character or camera moves by itself. It's caused by wear and dust inside the stick's sensors and is very common on older controllers.
Frequently asked questions
How do I test my controller for stick drift?
Connect the controller, leave both sticks untouched and watch the values. Readings above about 0.05 while you aren't touching the stick mean drift; the dot also moves away from the center ring.
Why isn't my controller detected?
Connect it by USB or Bluetooth, then press any button — browsers only reveal a controller after the first button press. Use Chrome or Edge for the best support.
Does it work with PS5 DualSense and Xbox controllers?
Yes. Any controller your computer recognises works, including Xbox, DualSense, DualShock 4, Switch Pro and most generic USB pads.
How can I fix stick drift?
Try recalibrating in your system settings, cleaning around the stick base with compressed air or isopropyl alcohol, and updating the controller firmware. Persistent drift usually needs a stick module replacement or warranty repair.
